I think Juliusz wrote a server side too, but it depended on GhostScript and 
thus the GPL boogeyman kept it out of xf86.

My reading of what you said in #3080 was that the DPS bits should be disabled 
by default in the imakery in 6.9 and simply not brought across to 7.0; 
whereas this sounds like it's in favor of dropping it for both release trees.  
I slightly prefer dropping it entirely, for consistency with the stated goal 
of same source in different build systems.  It's about the same amount of 
work for me either way though.  So do we feel strongly that it should be kept 
but disabled in 6.9?
