[cairo] bounding box of a rotated path

Hi all,

I'm trying to get the bounding box of some path using cairo_stroke_extents().
All is fine until I apply a rotation to the path. Then the rectangle returned
doesn't make sense to me, not even when the path is just a simple horizontal
line and then rotated. I expected in this simple case that the rotated line
would be the diagonal of the bounding box but it isn't.

Apparently I don't understand how this is supposed to work. Hope someone
can enlighten me.
