I just updated my kernel to 2.6.29-rc8 to test the new KMS for the i915 driver, I know it's in test, since then, when I start X it creates 2 output. My laptop screen LVDS1 and DVI2 which is not connected but appears connected. Using xrandr to switch it off does not work [ xrandr --output DVI2 --off ] and it appears my screen changed to something around the 96dpi instead of maybe 120, or at least it appears to have reduced.

Is it a known issue, any workaround?

Here is what I have installed:
kernel 2.6.29-rc8 with KMS enabled for i915
dri2proto 1.99.3
libdrm 2.4.5
mesa 7.3
xf86-video-intel 2.6.3
xorg-server 1.6.0
