> Does that mean I cannot build TinyX under xorg?

Use the latest release, http://www.x.org/wiki/Releases/7.3. Or if u prefer,
u can use the latest code from git. See http://www.x.org/wiki/ModularDevelopersGuide
for build instructions

> If it is so, the application layout still looks like below

>

>> FIREFOX

>> -------------------------

>> KDE (window manager)

>> --------------------------

>> TinyX +FB

>> ---------------------

...

> In my opinion, the firefox seems must have a windows manager to run
on.

AFAIK, Firefox has no dependency on KDE or any window manager. It should
run fine on X without any window manager. Window manager is only for tasks such
as displaying title bar and the close/minimize buttons, switching between windows,
resizing/moving windows etc..

> If it is really so, DirectFB+gtk seems will be smaller than KDE+TinyX+FB.

On embedded systems, I don't think KDE is a good choice as of now. If u use
X, u can consider Matchbox. Maemo is a good example of deploying mozilla, gtk,
X on embedded systems, it uses Matchbox as its window manager. I don't have
numbers, though numbers for X are easy to get from maemo running on N800/N810.

Gtk or no-gtk has nothing to do with X/DirectFB choice. If an application
is written to use Gtk, it will need gtk under both X and directfb.

So the choice is between X+Matchbox and DirectFB. And a look at N800/N810
will tell u which one is more ready to be used.
