Instead
--libdir=/opt/local
works fine. Thats used by rpm and I think deb as well.

Oops, I was tould that "lib64" is a default for x86_64.

Hope the above two things are no blocker.

In git is now supported:
make install-bin
make install-docs
and according make uninstall-xxx

We choose MIT to allow for especially that. Feel free to include libXcm 
into Xorg.
