Yes, the intel driver will work with any monitor <= 2048 pixels wide and
<= 2048 pixels tall.

Any LCD monitor should have EDID data so that the driver will
automatically pick the native mode.

I use 1680x1050, 1600x1200, 1920x1200 and 1920x1050 monitors quite
often.

If it doesn't work, set your ModeDebug option in the xorg.conf file and
post the config file and Xorg.0.log file to bugzilla so we can fix it.
