Maybe I'm too daring, but IMHO I wouldn't consider current git (at least 30
Sept one) and hence 2.1.2 stable with this bug alive:

At least this is repeatable and common in my intel card model (i855). The
bug is about X crash (or total system lock in my case) when playing videos
(use Xv) for the second time, or even when covering the Xv window by
another and the uncovering it again.

I'd be please to send whatever info you deem neccesary or do whatever test.
