Compile problems on Opteron 64 bit system - makedepend

Hi,

I have some problems with compiling Xorg 6.9.0 on an Opteron 64 
userspace (glibc 2.3.6 with gcc-3.4.5 or gcc-4.0.1).
I'm getting always a floating point exception from makedepend, when it 
is used in xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/os-support/linux.

Is somewhere a patch available, because this sounds like a similiar 
problem in the past (Bugzilla #601). Because I'm getting no better 
failure message I can't see which symbol it is on this architecture :-(.

Can anybody help me? Should I better use 7.0.0?
