I never had that with older versions, neither with the driver in
xorg 6.9 nor with an about 2 month old git version.

I've played around a bit and now I can reproduce the effect
reliably.  I pick a video and make the window either taller or
wider so that I get black bars at the top/bottom or left/right
(the player maximizes and centers the video while keeping the
aspect).  Then I move the window either to the top or the left
so that it has to be clipped.  At the moment it gets clipped,
the bottom or right garbage lines show up.  The bottom line
garbage (which actually consists of two lines) is hard to see
(you can only see one line and it's dark) but if you change the
colorkey to black you can see both lines and they are much
brighter.  The right column garbage can only be seen with black
colorkey as the garbage is usually clipped by the colorkey.
