        <pre>I did a test using current kernel 3.13 the behavior described still exists.

But it's solved since i add radeon.dpm=1 as kernel boot parameter the GPU is
powermanged and my laptop run very well using the open source driver (video
better than the legacy amd driver, opengl runs at least fast enough (cant feel
any difference at the applications i tested))

Solution for me on my Samsung notebook: adding "radeon.dpm=1" kernel boot
parameter
