Dear developpers,

I'm considering buying a Thinkpad with a Radeon Mobility HD3650 (Mobility FireGL V5700) GPU for running FreeBSD, using either the radeon or radeonhd driver.

I understood that recently (1.2.5) 2D acceleration and Xv support have been added for this GPU. This would apply for the R6xx and R7xx series.

However, I got confused on the chipsets and differences between Mobility and 'standard' HD chips. I haven't been able to find anything on this on the web. Since the Mobility has the M86 chip rather than the RV635 chip (standard HD3650), would that mean that 2D acceleration, Xv,and further development does not apply for the Mobility series? Or can I just consider the M86 to be part of the R6xx series?

Thank you in advance,

Tiemen
