TFT goes into suspend with radeon driver

No, same result.

But it worked well with an older fglrx revision and kernel, or with live-
cds. We had trouble with the card before, but mainly with TV-out, not with 
monitors going straight into suspend mode.

fglrx is no longer installed, and never was compiled for the running kernel.
