you can either download the zip file, or clone the tree using git, don't do
both :)

if you grab the zip, extract it, change to the linux-core folder, and run:
make drm.o radeon.o
then copy radeon.ko and drm.ko to your kernel module tree.
/lib/modules/VERSION/kernel/drivers/char/drm/
or on newer kernels:
/lib/modules/VERSION/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/ for drm.ko
and
/lib/modules/VERSION/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/ for radeon.ko
