Bug#537979: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: hangs when trying to set the virtual screen resolution to 3520x1200

Sounds like the video driver is working properly and you're having an
input issue. I notice the log file seems to lack any mention of input
devices or even drivers, do you have e.g. xserver-xorg-input-evdev
installed?
