I was running on fglrx so far.

Anyway, one year ago, when giving a shot to the xorg driver, I experimented the
same error.

In the Xorg.log, I can see the LVDS is disabled ("Output LCD1 disable success")
after calling  RADEONScreenInit, and is never enabled again.
