I am using Debian Lenny and I upgrade my system every few week. After
last upgrade a few days ago, a new problem occured. When I close the
lid
of my notebook, the external VGA output goes off (no signal). I have to
keep the lid open now even when using an external monitor. I can switch
the LVDS port off using xrandr, then the external VGA output keeps
working. So that's my workaround when watching movies on TV.

My Notebook is Compaq Evo N410c, having an ATI mobility M6 (Radeon
9000) card. The internal LVDS Screen has 1024x768x60, the external
VGA TV has 1360x768x60 (it also supports 75 Hz and lower
resolutions).

The relevant lines from my xorg.conf:
