I have two working modes on my Radeon 7200 (R100):

ModeLine "720x576PAL" 15.125 720 770 842 968 576 579 607 625 Composite
Interlace
Modeline "720x540PAL" 15.101 720 770 842 968 540 565 570 624 Composite
Interlace

Additionally I define the virtual size, but i'm not really sure if it makes a
difference:

Section "Screen"
  SubSection "Display"
    Virtual 720 576

$ export DISPLAY=":0.0"
$ xrandr -s 1
$ xrandr -s 0

And that's what i need to get a normal picture...

I'm thinking of using your patch, but an upstream fix would be very welcome :)
