[PATCH 0/3] Three fixes carried in Ubuntu

Here are a few patches we've been carrying in Ubuntu for a while, 
that should be considered for inclusion upstream.  One came from
OpenSUSE, and I don't know if it has ever been proposed upstream.
The other two were upstreamed but apparently fell off the radar.

I've git formatted them and verified they apply to current git.
