AIGLX error

[I've previously asked on the xorg list, but I have the feeling that I
won't get a reply there -- in case xorg-devel isn't appropriate either
please direct me to the right one.]

[This is an Intel 945GM card, using a 2.6.27.21 linux kernel.]


Using a git build from two days ago I get:

  (EE) AIGLX error: Calling driver entry point failed
  (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
  (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized /usr/local/x11/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so

(Note that there is a missing `\n' in the original error message after
the first line; I've just posted a bug to fix this).

My three questions:

  (a) What does this error mean?

  (b) Is there a possibility to increase logging verbosity so that I
      can get more information?

  (c) How shall I debug this?
